Direct Drive Telescope for MASS-DIMM
This is the third instrument/project which I worked on as part of my Ph.D. The project goal was to develop a direct drive based telescope for the MASS_DIMM instrument. Lists of tasks I was involved in:-
- Mechanical design of the telescope-interaction with the designer.
- Design and fabrication of a direct drive axial flux motor.
- Design and development of control electronics for the axial flux motor. Electronic boards like Encoder Interface boards, PIC microcontroller based controller, gate drive circuitry, MOSFET based drive electronics were developed.
- Design of test setup for the ETEL motor (to be used in the telescope.
- 3D modelling of the telescope tube, and wind load analysis of the tube. Comparison study between the wind load on Tube type and truss type telescope optics.
